For sale is this early 1990's Mondonico frameset.
The frame measurements are:
62 cm C-C seattube
61 cm C-C toptube
This is a handmade frameset, pinned and silver-brazed in the Mondonico shop after they closed their mass-production joint venture with Guerciotti and returned to handmade and custom framebuilding. Made of Columbus TSX tubing (slightly lighter and stronger than SLX) with beautifully thinned lugs, fastback seatstays, and internal cable routing. Paint is in incredible shape and is very durable, particularly for an Italian bike of this vintage. The chrome is also excellent. The bottom bracket is chamfered to accept a Mavic or threadless BB assembly but will also take a normal (Italian-threaded) unit. Rear (Campagnolo) dropouts are spaced to 126mm, could easily be spread to 130 for a modern drivetrain.
The only flaws are: normal evidence of chain rub on drive-side chainstay, and one instance of chain rub on the BB shell. Also, there is isolated chrome pitting around the Mondonico stampings on the fork crown - very common on frames from this era.
This will make a fast head-turner of a bike when fully built. Good for taller riders 6' +
Asking $400 for frameset (BB and HS not included)
