A vintage Raleigh 3-speed in excellent to mint condition has become highly sought after and is commonly referred to by many as their dream bike. The ultimate in human powered transportation, these vintage Raleigh 3-speeds were built as durable utility bikes made of quality steel. They were ridden to work by the people who made them at the factory in Nottingham, England, and that sense of pride in ownership comes through. I can't say enough good things about them. With their 20/30 High Carbon tubing, deep rich luxurious green paint, gold pin striping throughout, Brooks leather saddles, internally geared hubs, stylish fenders, lighting systems, beautiful chrome everywhere, saddlebags, baskets and the list goes on!! They are the Rolls Royce of Bicycles - at the top of the line and undeniably in a class all their own world wide. If you collect Raleighs, or just looking for a perfect bicycle to ride city or country in high style you will want this one! It is certainly the ultimate show-off bike for that group ride or Sunday spin in the park.. and of course built for everyday, all-weather travel!

This Mens Raleigh Superbe Model was the best 3 speed model money could buy. Bought new in Belmont, MA in 1971, it was acquired recently from the original owner at an estate liquidation. It looks, rides, and IS like new. For this vintage (41 years old) it's virtually impossible to find one like this - complete, all original, AND in NOS condition. This is even better than out of the box as it is assembled, in perfect tune, and ready to ride! Among many other quality features, this wonderful machine includes it's original alloy frame pump, Dyno-hub generator, headlamp, tail light, rear carrier/saddlebag, pair of locking fork keys, Sturmey Archer components throughout, Books leather saddle, and tons of beautiful, perfect chrome!

Features for 1971 Mens Raleigh Superbe:

*This rides and operates with mechanical precision. All wheels spin forever. Gears shift flawlessly. The original drive-chain is like new and perfectly
lubricated. Pedals and cottered crank assembly move smooth as glass. 40 tooth Raleigh
"heron head" chainring. No squeaks, rattles or glitches.. such a solid bicycle!

*All original Sturmey Archer gear shifter, cable, indicator chain, lock-nuts, rims, front DynoHub and rear three speed internally geared free-wheel hub. Rear hub stamped 10/70 (October 1971)... Front DynoHub stamped 11/71 (November 1971)

*All the chrome on this is outrageously beautiful - and there's a lot of it. Original patented Sturmey Archer chromed rims were designed to provide a more comfortable ride and shine like mirrors. Bright and perfect "R nuts" throughout. All nuts, bolts and screws are like new and bear no tool marks.

*The original front and rear caliper brake assemblies gleam with chrome and are in perfect working order. The original rubber brake pads astonishingly have no wear and are stamped with "Made in England".

*High quality lugged 2030 all steel frame construction. The very comfortable frame geometry allows you to pedal forward quickly and effortlessly while sitting upright.

*Special to the Raleigh Superbe Models is the original, heavy-duty 'Prestube' rear rack with chromed, sprung baggage clamp. It's in perfect condition.

*Also special to the Raleigh Superbe model was the locking fork. This 'theft-prevention' feature allows you to lock your fork in 3 different positions while parked, making it impossible to ride. The two original keys are included! One side is stamped 'Wilmot Union Breeden', and the other 'Made in England'.

*Beautiful matching full fenders for all weather riding. The underside of these are as pretty and new as the top surface!

*The original alloy "frame pump" stamped "Made in England" fits into pegs on the downtube and both looks and works great.. shiny and bright with no dents at all.

*Paint throughout is gorgeous! Deep, rich, glossy and "Raleigh green". All decals and gold pin striping are lovely, present and clear.

*The original black rubber 'DARE' hand grips have NO wear.

* Has it's amazing, original B66 Brooks brown leather saddle in brand new, unused condition.

*Original immaculate tool/saddlebag with leather straps in excellent condition. No cracks or tears. Perfect. Contains original Raleigh bike tool!

*Original 7 in 1 Raleigh bike tool in brand new condition. This fits every nut and bolt for easy, convenient, on the road repairs or adjustments.

* Aluminum, high quality Greenfield kickstand. Just like new.

*Original rubber block reflector pedals. Perfect chrome with Raleigh logo stamped into rubber. Sir Walter Raleigh logo stamped into chromed pedal end caps. Like new. No wear.

*Original "Raleigh N.T.L.s" (double white stripes). These are extremely hard to find separately in any condition, and these still have all their original tread. They truly add to the elegance of these lovely machines.

*Original Sturmey Archer 'DynoHub' lighting system in perfect working order! The DynoHub in the front wheel is an electro-magnetic generator which provides power to the the headlamp and tail light while you pedal. The chrome on these is perfect.

*Both wheels have beautifully chromed Sturmey Archer rims and hubs. Front DynoHub and rear AW hub are matching--each stamped with the year 1971.

*Frame is 21" from center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube.

*Bicycle is completely unmolested - nothing has been added, taken away or changed since it was bought in in 1971. It's not an exaggeration to say that this looks like it just rolled out of the factory and on to the showroom floor. It is absolutely clear that it was never used.

A very collectable piece of bicycle history perfectly preserved. To buy a new 'high end' 3-speed today you'll pay up to $1600, but the
quality/workmanship are half that of these old English built Raleigh models - half the beauty, style, and longevity too... truly the last of
the classics. Raleigh bicycles are the highest quality ever manufactured, made to last 100 years, so this still has at least that long. They are
very easy to pedal, and have a very comfortable frame geometry, you move fast on these -- not clunkers by any means! A dignified and classy way to
travel on a solid machine. And anyone can work on these simple and dependable bikes, they're pretty much indestructible. Internally geared
transmission and full fenders allow trouble free riding for all seasons in any weather. Such a joy to ride, makes my smile muscles hurt every time!

Absolutely no rust anywhere - It has been perfectly stored, well taken care of and rides beautifully. You will not find better. This is a museum quality show bike which you can proudly ride and enjoy for the rest of your life. Serious inquiries only please. Cash payment is preferred upon pick up. Paypal ok also. Domestic and International Shipping are possible, but please contact me for a quote before buying. I have chosen "no shipping" in the listing because there are simply too many variables to consider and it's impossible to calculate. I use shipbikes.com with great success. Standard Domestic shipping is usually around $100.. International cost varies greatly so please contact me first. I always recommend using an "Air Caddy" bike box for shipping anywhere. It's an extremely well designed, very strong box offered for $125 by shipbikes.com Because of it's size it qualifies as freight, so shipping cost is more.. but in my experience if you must ship a bike this is the best way to do it. I have become an expert at securely packing a bicycle.. taking my time and care in the process.

Please contact Alex at 212-365-0652 or message me here on ebay with your serious inquiries. Thanks and Good Luck!

Warmest Regards,

Alex

**I post a lot of detailed pics because it drives me crazy when I'm looking at an ad that does not show an item well. I tried to take a photo
of every part of this bike from many angles. Keep in mind that as as nice as the pics are, they pale in comparison with the beauty and brilliance of the bike first hand. I've been collecting only the best vintage Raleigh Sports, Lentons, Rudges and Superbes for several years now. Most of my bikes have hardly been ridden -
and some never ridden at all. You will not be disappointed with this one.
I rarely see more beautiful, elegant or well made bicycles.

I don't have bicycles of this caliber/condition very often, but when I do they always go to very happy, satisfied new owners.
